My guess in Hamilton. He piped out fastest time in final practice on Thursday at Silverstone, showing everyone how fast he and Mclaren are. Plus he will get a hometown boost of luck I suppose.

There are rumors circulating that Alonso will replace Raikkonen at Ferrari at the end of the 2009 season. When asked about retirement Raikkonen said that if he found something he liked more than F1 he would quit, but if he felt like he would miss the sport he would stay. Alonso had no comment when asked about the move. It makes sense that Ferrari would begin discussions with Alonso in case Raikkonen does retire. Just wondering how everyone feels about this. Yeah, he's losing/lost his edge, and it's probably time for him to go, but a part of me feels a little nostalgic about him leaving. He's the last of the lads who were driving when I started watching F1 I think...I've always kind of had a soft spot for him. Thoughts?

Red Bull driver David Coulthard has announced his retirement from Formula 1, effective at the end of the 2008 season.

Reb Bull has extended the contract of their other driver, Mark Webber. the new deal sees webber stay at Red Bull until at least the end of the 2009 season.

The herald sun in melbourne is reporting that victorian premier John Brumby is set to announce at a press conference today that Melbournes Albert Park will retain the Australian Formula One Grand Prix until at least 2015, with the race rumored to begin at 5pm Melbourne Time.

Nick Fry discusses Honda's "pull" with other drivers as the 09 season approaches.

Fuji fans suing the circuit

More than 100 fans who attended the Japanese Grand Prix in 2007 are suing Fuji International Speedway. They are looking for about $300,000 in damages (32 million yen). There are 109 fans who are pursuing the lawsuit. They claim that the circuit did not provide adequate restroom facilities, and spectating facilities. Some claim they were left in the rain due to transport problems. Also, some are complaining about obstruction of views from the grandstands.

One of the great things about Formula 1 before the mid 80's was the lack of security. Nobody was worried about external threats, or rogue fans trying to harm a team or driver. My pals and I would sleep outside the circuit in sleeping bags, on the ground, wake up as the sun rose and ask if we could help the mechanics with their equipment. I remember being at Canada back about 30 years ago, helping the Lotus mechanics with the tires. I've also slept inside the Monza circuit in my tent. Amazing. ...

Australian Grand Prix deal

rumors have been afoot for sometime about there being a deal to keep the Australian Grand Prix at albert park through to 2015 and would involve the race being moved a further 2 hours or so back to 5pm AEDST. rumors are that Ron Walker, the chairman of the Australian grand prix corporation, and Bernine Ecclestone reached an agreement recently at talks in london and that all that is required now is for the Victorian Government to sign off. What do you all think is going to happen? as a melbournian ...

GP2 - Senna

It's been exciting following the current GP2 season. It's had a lot of drama, not least when Bruno Senna hit the dog in Turkey, causing his retirement and the dogs sudden death. It would be really cool to see Bruno Senna in F1. Get the name back in the sport. He would get so much media attention. It would be fun to watch and to see him do well in F1.

Is it really so far off, electric Formula 1 cars? That is the apparent direction we are heading. I honestly don't know what to think of that. They have the potential to be faster, but it would detract from the sport probably. I mean think of pit stops...changing tires would be about it.
