Fernando Alonso to take Kimi Raikkonen's Ferrari seat for 2010?

Post by Shane on Mon Jun 16, 2008 8:19 am

There are rumors circulating that Alonso will replace Raikkonen at Ferrari at the end of the 2009 season. When asked about retirement Raikkonen said that if he found something he liked more than F1 he would quit, but if he felt like he would miss the sport he would stay. Alonso had no comment when asked about the move. It makes sense that Ferrari would begin discussions with Alonso in case Raikkonen does retire. If the current world champ stays at Ferrari, which makes the most sense, then Alonso may be stuck at Renault.

yeah there is talk about that. It would be a shame to see a great driver like Kimi retire at such an early age. We'll see

I agree with zepher, I don't want to see it, and the only people who probably do are the spaniards, lol

Got to agree...I HOPE NOT! I'm a die hard Ferrari fan, and a hard core Alonso 'non-fan' (thought that was more PC than 'hater' ha ha) I would seriously be extremely conflicted if this happened. I could see it in some ways though, because Alonso, for all that I don't really like him, is a desperate driver, and his talent is probably rather wasted with the car he's in now. But geez...it would be so hard for me to cheer for him!!! Yeah, I agree...Spain would love to see it because it would mean he stood a chance of winning again! Umm...don't think that's going to happen for him with his present team...
